Community Outreach

At the Wareham Land Trust, we believe that connecting people with nature starts with education—and it should be fun, accessible, and meaningful. That’s why we actively participate in and host community events throughout the year, bringing hands-on wildlife displays, quick educational activities, and engaging talks to audiences of all ages.

Whether it’s a local fair, school festival, or out on the trail, our team is there to spark curiosity about local ecosystems, conservation practices, and the wildlife that call our protected lands home. Through these interactive experiences, we aim to inspire a deeper appreciation for nature and empower our community to become stewards of the environment.

Wareham Middle School Naturalist Club

The Wareham Land Trust 24′-25′ TerraCorps Service Member facilitated an after-school naturalist club for the Wareham Middle School that ran from February through June 2025. The club included guided outdoor exploration of the school's grounds to investigate the world of moss and lichen, learn about worm anatomy and behavior, practice orienteering skills, and build observation skills. In addition, indoor lessons and experiments focused on species identification skills, animal adaptations, dissecting owl pellets and so much more!

A love of the environment starts with children, and WLT was happy to be able to spark these students' curiosity and build their knowledge about the natural world around us. We are looking forward to continuing this program in the years to come to inspire the future of our community.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Wareham Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
