The Wareham Land Trust took part in a parade for the first time on Saturday, November 11 when the town brought back the Veterans Day parade after a 6 year hiatus. A small but enthusiastic group of 11 members marched, proudly carrying the WLT banner and sporting WLT t-shirts and hats. The crowd cheered us on as we marched up Main Street to Center Park with our flags and “Thank You Veterans” signs. WLT was proud to be able to honor our veterans through this event.
We were introduced as we passed by the dignitaries’ platform. The comments included our mission and some of our recent conservation successes, including the recent acquisition of the Sawyer Preserve and the creation of the Red Brook Trail Network.
Our new WLT banner was made for the parade, but it will also bring more visibility to our table at town events and we’ll be ready for next year’s Veterans Day parade. Mark your calendars and plan to march with us in 2024!
