Looking for a hike that incorporates riverside habitats, woodland areas, and retired cranberry bogs? Douglas S. Westgate Conservation Area on Papermill Road in West Wareham is a great place to explore!

Named after Wareham Conservation Commission member Doug Westgate, the property offers scenic views of natural and human-made landscapes, including remnants of the cranberry industry. The open space near the cranberry bogs is the perfect place for birding, so keep your eyes open and see how many species you can spot! If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, follow the trail to Fearing Hill Conservation Area, the property that neighbors Westgate, and enjoy even more of what the environment has to offer!
