Whitlock’s Landing

A Peaceful Launch Point on Agawam Mill Pond

Whitlock’s Landing is a small, scenic preserve owned and managed by the Wareham Land Trust. This half-acre property offers direct access to Agawam Mill Pond for non-motorized boats and is a favorite local spot for shoreline fishing and quiet reflection by the water.

Tucked just off Onset Avenue, Whitlock’s Landing provides a simple but beautiful way to enjoy Wareham’s freshwater resources. With room to launch a kayak or canoe, cast a fishing line, or sit and enjoy the view, this site is a gateway to one of Wareham’s most peaceful pond systems.

What You’ll Find

  • Direct access to Agawam Mill Pond for kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards

  • A grassy shoreline with space to sit or fish

  • Off-street parking available for several vehicles

  • Opportunities to view waterfowl, turtles, and seasonal plant life

This is a passive recreation site with no restrooms or formal launch infrastructure. Visitors are encouraged to use caution when accessing the water and to be mindful of seasonal conditions and water levels.

Why This Land Matters

Though small in size, Whitlock’s Landing plays a vital role in maintaining public access to the Agawam River watershed. It also protects a portion of shoreline habitat and offers a peaceful escape in an otherwise developed corridor. The Wareham Land Trust’s ownership ensures that this spot remains open, accessible, and cared for into the future.

Providing access to ponds and rivers helps encourage responsible recreation and deepens the community’s connection to the local environment.
