Join us for one of our “grand opening” tours of the brand new Red Brook Trail Network. The Red Brook Trail Network is a collaboration between the Wareham Land Trust, the Onset Water District and the Trustees, as the trail system winds through land owned by all three entities. Come explore the Red Brook watershed and adjacent Atlantic Coastal Pine Barrens. Three new loops will be added to connect to the already existing existing trails at the Trustees’ Lyman Reserve. Parking for the Red Brook Trail System is available at the main Lyman Reserve parking on Red Brook Road at the Wareham-Plymouth town line. Of the three, Jasper’s Trail and Turtle Trail will be finalized and open to the public at the end of October. The third, Kora’s Trail, will be completed during the winter of ’23-’24. These trails traverse various habitats and climb up and down some steep terrain, particularly on Turtle Trail. Participants registering for the Red Brook Trail Network hikes should be able to hike trails of moderate difficulty, should wear durable hiking shoes, and should bring water and layers (as appropriate for the weather). All hikes will cover 2.5 to 3 miles and will take approximately 2.5 hours. Light rain will not cancel the event. In the event of more serious weather, a notification will be sent to registrants. These events will be FREE for WLT members, $5 for nonmembers (payable by cash or check at the event).
