Please join us on Sunday, December 6th at 1:00 pm in the new parking lot for the expanded Tweedy & Barnes property on Blackmore Pond Road. The Wareham Land Trust recently secured funding for this land via a Community Preservation Fund grant, a grant from the Commonwealth’s EOEEA Conservation Partnership Fund, and the support of our members. The additional land is approximately eight acres contiguous to – and previously separated from – our already owned 25-acre preserve in SW Wareham. The grants also helped fund the addition of parking spaces and signage not previously available to welcome the public to this lovely preserve. Over 40% of the new property is NHESP Core Habitat and Critical Natural Landscape. (More information here: Natural Heritage Biomap2)
Sue McCombe, from our Board of Directors, will be discussing the land trust and more detailed information about the program on the local access WCTV Morning Show, Monday, November 23rd at 8:00 a.m. Tune in!
In addition to the “grand opening” of the extended land, we will be celebrating the winners of our 2015 Photography Contest and awarding the prizes. Visit our Facebook page to see all of our winning entries. Come meet the photographers, enjoy a trail walk, and share in our excitement of these two events.
Light refreshments will be served.
